I made this on 27 Apr 2022, and it is so good, my wife and I enjoyed nearly the whole cooker! Easy and flavorful rice. I used my basic 1 liter (1 quart) Cook and Warm rice cooker. Link to the Shortcut is listed in the Recipe Notes section.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dry Jasmine rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth, fresh or from powder, Shortcut
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, or vegetable oil
  • 1 large red onion, diced, use two if they are small
  • ΒΌ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Onion is prepped. I used two small onions as well.
  • Add the oil to your rice cooker and set to the Cook setting to heat the oil, when hot, add the onion and cook, stirring often, until almost softened.
  • Add the rice and stir to coat the rice with oil. Cook, stirring often, until the onion is tender and the rice is just starting to lightly brown.
  • Season with the pepper then stir in the chicken broth. Cover and let the Cook cycle complete, as indicated by the cooker switching to Warm setting.
  • Remove the cover and fluff with a rice paddle.
  • Serve as a side with any main dish. Enjoy.

Yep, fancy name, it is French for the herb mixture. You can buy the dried herb mixture in grocery stores, but look for one that does not have lavender, that is an American addition, not the true French version, so skip the lavender. On my to make and taste list. This is a rice cooker recipe and I will use my basic 1 liter (1 quart) Cook and Warm rice cooker. Links to the Shortcuts are listed in the Notes section.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dry Jasmine rice, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cups chicken stock, fresh or from powder, Shortcut
  • 1Β½ teaspoons dried Herbs de Provence, preferably without lavender. Shortcut
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to your rice cooker, stir to mix together. Place the cover on and press the switch to Cook.
  • When the cooker switches to Warm setting, remove the lid, fluff with a rice paddle.
  • Serve as a side with any dish.

As a fan of seasoned rice, this is really good, I made this on 8 Sep 2018 and was well liked by the family as well. This uses a simple cook and warm rice cooker.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Β½ small onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup dry Jasmine rice, or any long grain white rice
  • 1Β½ cups chicken stock, fresh or from powder
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • Β½ cup fresh cilantro leaves, minced, stems are no problem as well

Instructions
 

  • Add the butter to your rice cooker and place on Cook. When the butter is melted, add the onion and cook until the onion is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the rice, stock, salt, and cilantro, and stir together. Place the lid on the cooker and allow to cook until it switches to Warm setting. Leave on Warm for 10-15 minutes.
  • Fluff with rice paddle, serve as a side dish and enjoy.

Notes

Variant: 1. Add a diced poblano chili which will add to the green color of the rice, and the chili and cilantro can be optionally purΓ©ed, provided by H. Stave, United States.

This recipe has me interested, I will write this using fresh tuna and cooked mainly in a rice cooker, no need to cook the rice the stove top way. You will use your rice cooker primarily for this dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1Β½ cups dry Jasmine rice
  • 3 cups chicken stock, fresh or from powder
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 226 grams tuna, flaked, canned drained or fresh cooked, (8 oz), Shortcut
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions
 

  • Turn your rice cooker to Cook setting, heat the oil in rice cooker pot, add the onion and sautΓ© for about 3 minutes until it is soft and translucent.
  • Add the rice and stir to coat with oil and the rice grains are glassy, about 1 minute.
  • Add the chicken stock, cover, and let it runs the full Cook cycle.
  • About 10 minutes into the cook cycle, fold in the peas and corn then cover again and continue to cook to complete the cook cycle.
  • Drain the tuna, this can be canned or fresh cooked, and flake with a fork. Fold in the tuna and parsley into the rice, cover and let sit for 5 minutes on Warm setting on the rice cooker.
  • Serve, this can be a hearty side dish or a main meal.

  • 1 cup dry white rice, rinsed
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, smashed and finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • ΒΌ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1ΒΎ cups water

Instructions
 

  • Place the first 5 ingredients in your rice cooker and mix evenly. Add the water. Set the cooker to the Cook setting. (After this photo, then the rice was added and mix together.)
  • When the cooker switches to Warm setting, fluff the rice with a spoon and taste, season with a pinch of salt if needed. Serve as a side with any main dish.

This is Indian in nature, if you have never used saffron, understand it is the most expensive spice in the world, this is not cheap, and top dollar is paid for this spice. I used my small rice cooker for this and this is really good exactly as written.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup dry Jasmine rice
  • 1ΒΌ cups chicken stock, fresh or from powder
  • ΒΌ teaspoon saffron threads, (6-7 threads)
  • β…› teaspoon ground turmeric
  • β…› teaspoon ground cumin
  • Β½ clove garlic, pressed or finely minced
  • β…› teaspoon chili powder
  • ΒΎ teaspoon fish sauce
  • lemon juice, just a squeeze or so

Instructions
 

  • Add the stock into a small pot and place over high heat and bring to a boil then remove from heat.
  • To the hot stock add the saffron, turmeric, cumin, garlic, chili powder, and fish sauce and mix well.
  • Add the dry rice to the rice cooker pot then pour in the stock mixture. Stir, cover, and set to Cook mode.
  • When the rice cooker switches to Warm, fluff the rice with a paddle. Taste for saltiness, add fish sauce to adjust, and if too salty, add a squeeze or two of lemon or lime juice.
  • Serve as a side dish with any Asian or Indian dish.

  • 2 cups dry Jasmine rice, rinsed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, with juice, (400 g/14-15 oz)
  • 3Β½ cups water
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cubes chicken stock, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Β½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
 

  • Place the rinsed rice in the bottom of the rice cooker and then add the diced tomatoes, onion, stock cubes, and spices.
  • Add the water and stir to mix in the spices.
  • Set your rice cooker to Cook setting, when it switches to Warm, mix with a large spoon, it will be wet, taste for salt and add as desired.
  • Serve as a side dish.

Notes

Variant: 1. Use a can of whole peeled tomatoes, plus the tomato juice, and simply chop up the tomatoes, in place of the can of diced tomatoes.

  • 1 bay leaf
  • ΒΌ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled, whole
  • ΒΌ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • Β½ tablespoon butter

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the rice 2 or 3 times, drain, and place in the rice cooker pot. Add the spices and stock, stir then cover and switch the cooker to the Cook setting.
  • When the cooker switches to Warm, open, remove the bay leaf and garlic cloves, stir in the butter, cover for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Serve as a side dish with chicken or fish.
