Fruited Barbecue Sauce
This recipe is from a cookbook titled Campbell's Creative Cooking With Soup, printed in 1985. Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ cup onion, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 can Soup Option, (10½ oz / 298 g)
- 1 cup Preserves Option
- ¼ cup Liquid Option
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
OPTIONS
Soup - Use 1 Item
- condensed beef broth, or 2½ cups fresh broth
- condensed chicken broth, or 2½ cups fresh broth, Shortcut
- condensed French onion soup
Preserves - Use 1 Item
- apricot preserves
- peach preserves
- orange marmalade
Liquid - Use 1 Item
- lemon juice
- cider vinegar
- lime juice
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a 2 quart saucepan on medium heat, when hot, add the onion and garlic. Sauté until tender.
- Stir in all remaining ingredients, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Use to marinate and baste chicken or ribs, then heat remaining sauce to pour over the meat. Enjoy.
