Garam Masala
Adapted from an internet recipe.
This is a shortcut to make a popular Indian spice used in many dishes. This can be made with whole spices or ground spices.

For Ground Spices
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground star anise
For Whole Spices
- 1½ teaspoons whole cloves
- 2 inch cinnamon stick
- 30 cardamom pods
- ¼ whole nutmeg, grated
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 2 pieces whole star anise
For Ground Spices, simply mix together in a small bowl and store in a small airtight container and use as recipes state.
For Whole Spices, use a Spice Grinder or Mortar & Pestle and grind all the spices to a powder, store in a small airtight container and use as recipes state.
