I state basic for this as it uses store bought gravy packets or you can make the 'store bought' packets yourself, but you will dress these up with some with other ingredients. Thai brand Lobo makes an excellent Beef Gravy packet and they are very inexpensive. Links to the shortcuts are listed in the Recipe Notes section.

For the Gravy
Servings: servings
Instructions
  1. Prepare the Salisbury steaks by mixing together the beef, , egg, tomato paste, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 round or oval patties.
  2. Heat the butter in a large non stick pan, add the patties and cook for 4 to 5 minutes each side until well browned. Remove from the pan and set them aside.
  3. In a small sauce pan, prepare the gravy packets per the package instructions.
  4. Using the pan you cooked the patties in, add the onion, mushrooms, and thyme. Saute until the onion is translucent and soft, and the mushroom well wilted and starting to brown. Reduce heat to a low simmer and pour in the gravy from the sauce pan and stir in the soy sauce.
  5. Add the patties to the gravy, cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until cooked through.
  6. Season the gravy to taste with salt and pepper as desired, serve with mashed potatoes.
Recipe Notes

Figure about 150 Baht for the beef. For 4 servings, this is about $1.10 per serving.

  1. The beer needs to be flat, so measure it and let it sit for about an hour on the counter before you start cooking.
  2. Toast the bread cubes in one layer at 150 C until they're crisp, not toasted. About 15 minutes. Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Heat the oven to 180 C.
  3. In a skillet, cook the cauliflower and caraway seeds in the butter until barely tender. Add this to the bowl with the bread cubes, add the cheese and mix to combine. Spread this mixture into a 8 inch square baking dish or a 7x11 baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, mix the beer, eggs, mustard, coriander, and black pepper as desired. Pour this over the bread mixture. Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until puffed up slightly and golden brown.

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 180 C. Get out a 2 quart baking dish and lightly grease with butter.
  2. In a large non stick pan, melt the butter and cook onion on medium low heat until softened and translucent, then whisk in the in the flour, garlic powder, and pepper. Cook an additional 2 minutes. While whisking, gradually pour in the cold milk. Continue whisking over medium heat until thick and bubbly then remove from the heat and add stir in the mustard powder, paprika, cream cheese and 1½ cups cheddar cheese. Stir until melted, taste and adjust with salt if desired.
  3. Cook broccoli in a pot of boiling water for about 2-3 minutes, does not need to be cooked through 100% as it will cook more in the oven. Drain broccoli, then stir together the rice, broccoli, and cheese sauce and pour into the prepared casserole dish, top with the rest of the cheese and bake for 30-35 or until bubbly and the cheese is starting to brown. Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes, serve.
Recipe Notes

The Cheddar cheese would run about 180 Baht for a 250 gram block, go with that. This is about a 67 cent meal.

For variants, try broccoli and cauliflower together, or just cauliflower. Add cooked cubed ham or chicken to make it a main dish vice a side dish.
