Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 180 C. You will need a 9x13 baking dish, and a larger roasting pan that the baking dish will fit inside.
  2. Slice your bread to 3/4 inch thick slices. Arrange the bread in two layers in a 9 by 13 by 2-inch baking dish, cutting the bread to fit the dish. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, honey, orange zest, vanilla, and salt. Pour the mixture over the bread and press the bread down. Allow to soak for 10 minutes.
  4. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and add enough hot water to the roasting pan to come an inch up the side of the baking dish. Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil, tenting it so the foil doesn't touch the pudding. Make two slashes in the foil to allow steam to escape. Bake for 45 minutes, remove the foil, and bake for another 40 to 45 minutes, until the pudding puffs up and the custard is set. Remove from the oven and cool slightly.
  5. Cut into squares and lightly dust the tops with confectioners sugar, serve with maple syrup on the side.
Recipe Notes

Low cost.

Instructions
  1. Combine the half and half (or evaporated milk) with the cheddar cheese soup, and mix until it is smooth. Next, sprinkle in the paprika and black pepper, and mix.
  2. Into your slow cooker, add the uncooked macaroni, half of the shredded cheeses, the butter, and the cheddar soup mixture, mix to combine. Top this off with the rest of the shredded cheeses. Put the lid on and cook on Low setting for 3 hours. Serve.
Recipe Notes

The Cheddar cheese would run about 180 Baht, the Colby or Edam, another 90, the condensed soup about 90 Baht, same for making yourself but you will know what is in it. For 10 servings, this is about $1.06 per serving.

Shortcut: Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup.

Variants: Add chopped broccoli, chopped ham, cooked cubed chicken.

Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, on high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil until hot. Add chicken and cook on one side on high heat for 1 minute. While it cooks, sprinkle the uncooked sides of the chicken with paprika and Italian seasoning. Flip the chicken over, and cook on the other side for 1 minute on high heat. Reduce heat to medium, flip chicken over again and cook, covered, for several minutes until no longer pink in the center. Remove chicken from the pan and keep chicken warm.
  2. To the same pan (but without chicken), add chopped tomatoes, spinach, garlic, red pepper flakes, 1/3 of the chicken (sliced into small strips) and half the bacon. Mix everything.
  3. Add half and half and bring to boil. Only after half and half starts boiling, add grated Parmesan cheese - immediately reduce to simmer and stir, while simmering, until the cheese melts and makes the sauce creamy, only about 1 minute (at most 2 minutes). Then, immediately remove from heat. Season with more red pepper flakes and salt, if needed.
  4. In the mean time bring a large pot of water to boil, add pasta and cook it according to instructions. Drain the pasta, rinse with cold water and drain again.
  5. Add pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Add remaining half of bacon. Season with more salt if necessary. Slice the remaining 2/3 of chicken into thin strips. To serve, top the pasta with chicken strips and grated Parmesan cheese.
Recipe Notes

Chicken breast will cost about 50 Baht for 500 grams, cheese however, that is nearly 200 Baht for 125 grams (would need at least 125 grams, probably 200 to be on the safe side), shop around so you can find a better price. Based on these two prices, the total is 320 Baht, about $2.35 per person, but a good meal for a special occasion.
