  1. Combine the half and half (or evaporated milk) with the cheddar cheese soup, and mix until it is smooth. Next, sprinkle in the paprika and black pepper, and mix.
  2. Into your slow cooker, add the uncooked macaroni, half of the shredded cheeses, the butter, and the cheddar soup mixture, mix to combine. Top this off with the rest of the shredded cheeses. Put the lid on and cook on Low setting for 3 hours. Serve.
Recipe Notes

The Cheddar cheese would run about 180 Baht, the Colby or Edam, another 90, the condensed soup about 90 Baht, same for making yourself but you will know what is in it. For 10 servings, this is about $1.06 per serving.

Shortcut: Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup.

Variants: Add chopped broccoli, chopped ham, cooked cubed chicken.

Instructions
  1. Sprinkle both sides of the chicken salt and pepper and place in your slow cooker.
  2. Mix the soups together and pour over the chicken. For cheesier sauce, use 2 cans of cheese soup and 1 can of chicken soup.
  3. Cover and cook on Low setting for 6 to 8 hours or until the chicken is cooked through. If in doubt, use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temp of 74 C.
  4. Serve over hot rice or pasta, sprinkle sliced spring onion on top for garnish and add color.
Recipe Notes

Chicken breasts run about 100 Baht/kilo, that should be about 6 breasts. The soup per can is on average 52 Baht, 3 cans would be 156 Baht, if you make these using the shortcuts, the cost is 21 Baht per can, making the soup cost about 63 Baht, plus a bit more for the chicken and cheese needed, so I will say 75 Baht for the soup made from shortcuts. For 6 servings this works out to about $1.25 per serving if using canned soup. If using soups made from the shortcuts, for 6 servings, this comes out to about 86 cents per serving.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In skillet, brown sausage and drain on paper towels, if necessary. Chicken sausage would be ideal as well.
  3. In a greased 9 x 13 baking dish, slightly overlap potato slices along the bottom. Top with the cooked sausage, then broccoli. Pour the condensed soup mixture all over casserole. Top with additional shredded cheese.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. Let sit for 5 minutes to cool and then enjoy!
Recipe Notes

500 grams of sausage, if one cannot find bulk, link sausage would work great, just fry until done, slice into discs, or use the Italian sausage recipe on this site to make Pork, Italian, or Chicken sausage. Cost for sausage should be no more than 150 Baht, making this a meal that is easily under $1 per person for 8 people. Make the condensed soup yourself for even more savings.

Shortcuts: Sausage, Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup.

Recipe Notes

Chicken breasts will be about 88 Baht/kilo, 6 would run about 110 Baht. Quarters run about 64 Baht/kilo, 3-4 would run about 80 Baht.

The canned soup is about 60 Baht/can, if you make from the shortcut, very easy, the cost would be 20 Baht/can.

For breasts and canned soup, the cost per person for 6 people is about $1.15. For quarters and homemade soup from the shortcut, the cost for 6 people, per person would be 60 cents.

Making the shortcut will save you money and it is so easy!
